Unblock Kit

Unblock downloaded files in bulk, safely.

Version 2.0Windows 11

Windows marks files that came from the internet, which is why you see "Windows protected your PC", Protected View and blocked macros. Unblock Kit removes that mark for whole folders, checks each file with Microsoft Defender first, and keeps a record so you can put every mark back.

What it does

See what is blocked first

Each file's zone and the website it came from, with filters for Blocked, Need admin, In use and Done. Nothing changes until you say so.

Defender checks first

Each blocked file is scanned with Microsoft Defender before its mark is removed. A detection keeps the file blocked, with no override.

Undo everything

History keeps a byte-for-byte copy of every mark removed, so you can re-block a whole run or a single file.

No admin unless it is needed

It runs as you. Files you cannot change are retried by a small helper after one Windows prompt per batch, without changing owners or permissions.

Careful by default

It skips Windows' own folders, keeps file dates, and never switches off SmartScreen, Defender or Smart App Control.

Private, and scriptable

No network, no account, no telemetry. A command line with --scan and --unblock and clear exit codes.

Questions

Is it safe to unblock files?

Unblocking tells Windows you trust a file, so only unblock files you expected and know the source of. Unblock Kit checks each one with Microsoft Defender first, and a detection keeps it blocked.

Can I change my mind?

Yes. History keeps every mark it removed, byte for byte. Re-block a whole run or one file.

Does it switch off Windows security?

No. It never switches off SmartScreen, Defender, Smart App Control or Controlled Folder Access. Two per-user options are offered and explained, and both can be undone.
